Insulation SupportInsulation Support

E-ZBAR Insulation Supports can be used to position the insulation and/or rebar in reinforced concrete thermal mass walls, depending on which configuration works best for the project at hand. The components used to assemble our supports can be purchased in bulk and assembled by the end user or cut to length and assembled by our staff. All of our applications use the same components consisting of rebar clips, 3/8" coil rod, endcaps and retainer flanges. Our coil rod is available in metal or plastic, endcaps are not required when using plastic coil rod.

E-ZBAR insulation supports are independent of the formwork and can be spaced at the users discretion when using accepted practices for concrete mix design and placement procedures for thin wall sections. Our insulation supports are intended to position the insulation only, these Insulation supports will fail when the differential concrete height is exceeded for the type of insulation being used. We recommend using a flowable mix and keeping a differential concrete height of 12" or less. Here are a few different configurations for installing our insulation supports;

CONFIGURATION A

CONFIGURATION A

This configuration of our thermal mass insulation support is continuous from form to form with the insulation sandwiched between two of our retainer flanges. This method is the fastest when supporting the insulation only. The price per support location would be $1.80 and requires a hole to be cut through the insulation for installation.

CONFIGURATION B

CONFIGURATION B

This configuration of the support is similar to the first example but also includes rebar clips to position the wall steel. This configuration works best when the wall steel is tied in place, price per location is $2.55 and requires a hole to be cut through the insulation for installation.

CONFIGURATION C

CONFIGURATION C

The final configuration shown here is a modification of our E-ZBAR single matt and /or double matt rebar supports. The supports are independent of each other and do not pass through the insulation. The supports clip onto the reinforcing steel and maintain the dimension between the wall form and the insulation. This is the best method to use when supporting both the rebar and insulation without cutting holes in the insulation, cost for one set of supports would be $3.30.
